Thei Staaks

I was born in 1954 in Kessel, Netherlands.
In the 60's and 70's Kessel was one of the largest centers in the Dutch mushroom industry.
A lot off smaller farms were located in this village. My father also owned 600 m² (6,458 ft²) growing area for a living.
It was therefore very obvious that I would be involved in the mushroom industry.

Below is a brief summary of my experience in the mushroom world.

January 2010 to the present: independent consultant for mushroomgrowing and composting (America Mushroom Services, Member of MAN).

February 2007 to January 2010: consultant (cultivation mushrooms and composting), and trainer for C Point / DLV .

October 2005 to February 2007: start-up cultivation and harvesting Myszkowiec Mushroom Production Poland. 19 rooms of 800m² (19 x 8,611 ft²).

2000-2005: manager at van Leeuwen Swolgen Mushrooms. 14 rooms of 400m² (14 x 4,305 ft²). During this period we’ve developed the automatic picking lorry, and also we greatly improved the so-called graze picking.

1999-2000: startup cultivation and harvesting Atlantic Mushrooms, Ireland. 48 sheds of 350m² (48 x 3,767 ft²). 1995-1999: manager Heveco, Netherlands.

1985-1995: own company 10 rooms of 200 m² (10 x 2,152ft²) in America Netherlands.

1978-1985: assistant and grower at the Research Station for Mushroom Cultivation in America, Holland. Department composting phase 1, 2 and 3, casing and spawn research. During this period I had a considerable contribution to the development of phase 2 and 3 tunnels.

1974-1977: assistant Researcher and grower at Research Station for Mushroom Cultivation in America; pests, diseases and hygiene department.

I am convinced that my own experience, gained throughout years of cultivation and composting, contributes to a good, solid advice to give. If you have any questions or need information, please do not hestitate to contact me by using the contact button on our homepage or give me a call.
